So a couple of things before we start:
1. If remember the post I posted a while ago where I told you how to make your own watercolors well this is the project where I first put those watercolors to the test!
2. I don't know if you have noticed but most of my inspiration comes from Pinterest so I have a Pinterest and I was interested if you guys were interested if you guys would be interested in me making my Pinterest open to the general public so you guys could follow me. If so comment down below or if you don't have the capability to comment you can just view this page multiple times and if I get 15 page views before Sunday I will let you guys know in my Sunday post.
What you'll need:
Watercolors
A bird shape
Newspaper
Watercolor (I used the ones I made)
A paintbrush
Water
Mod podge
So this is really simple. I took the colorful aspects from the first bird and the newspaper from the second to create something really cool I think.
First you'll just want to watercolor your paper however you choose. I did some diagonal rainbow pattern.
There are just some things I wanted to tell you about the watercolors:
1. This is like normal watercolors in the fact that the it soaks into the paper and colors the paper. What I find happens is that you're putting a layer of colored cornstarch on top of the paper. Later on some of the actual watercolor chipped off of the paper.
2. Like I said you are basically putting colored cornstarch on top of the paper which means that cornstarch is getting onto your brush and into the water you are using to rinse your brush. This is not a big deal just something I wanted you guys to be aware of.
And while that is drying we can start on the bird.
You'll just want to draw or print a bird silhouette out. I personally drew mine.
And then cut it out...
And just cover it in layer upon layer of newspaper. I did a lot of layers because I was going for a semi 3-D look. The only thing about this is that it's kind of hard to glue later. You don't have to worry about the edges because you can just go and cut the shape out again later.
And when that is all done let it dry, and when it is dry flip it over and recut out the bird shape.
And then glue it to the watercolor and you are done!!!!!!!!!!
Make sure to make it you own and have fun with it!
